Great Winter Family Trips

Wintertime is a wonderful time for a trip with your family. Whether you’re looking to embrace the winter wonderland and go for a ski trip, or to escape the cold and go somewhere warm, or just to create a vacation at home, there’s truly something for every family! Below are three of our favorite winter destinations that we think make great winter family trips.

1. Colorado.

This one is intuitive, but we had to put it first on our list because Colorado is such a gorgeous place to go during the winter and there are lots of places within Colorado that make for great winter family trips! Pagosa Springs, near the southern border of Colorado and very close to New Mexico, is a quaint Colorado town. It is known for and named after the sulfur springs that are located there. Visitors come from all over the world to enjoy the hot springs, which is a nice twist on a typical winter vacation! If you’re looking for a more traditional skiing adventure, we can’t recommend Breckenridge enough. Breckenridge is truly so beautiful in the winter and the town features a number of winter activities including: downhill skiing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and ice skating. And the town has ample opportunities for some lovely après ski, too!

2. Floria.

We wouldn’t be able to make a list of great winter family trips without including Florida on the list. Florida boasts many opportunities for a warm winter vacation, including: Siesta Key, Daytona Beach, Palm Beach, Key West, and Orlando. Florida has something for every member of the family, from the rides and magic of Orlando, to scenic beaches along the coast. If you’re looking for a warm spot this summer, Florida has your back!

3. The Coziness of Your Own City (or Town)

Okay, okay, we know: your home isn’t a travel destination; however, there are often reasons for why we aren’t able to travel far for the winter. There’s no reason you can’t simulate a “trip” in your own city, though! Winter is a wonderful time to see your city or town in a new way by going on new hikes or even going camping somewhere near you! Bring supplies for a campfire and lots of warm socks, sweatshirts, and sweatpants and you’re all set!

Wherever you decide to go, don’t forget to pack a pair (or two, or three) of HearMuffs for the kids in your life! HearMuffs offer advanced hearing and ear protection, and you never know when you might need that on your winter vacation! (And maybe pack some regular ear muffs too, you know, to keep your ears warm!)
